Math - we exploring the Cartesian plane (4 Quadrant Grid) and continuing our look at t-tables, growing patterns and integers. Students are reviewing mental math strategies and how patterns help us to predict future data. Science - we are formalizing inquiry questions this week and exploring similarities and differences between the different planets in our solar system. LA - Presentation of novel studies are this week. We are back to our normal reading times every Mon/Wed so please have a reading book! Social - students will begin to look at how decisions were made in Ancient Greece

January 20th - Semester #2 Starts (6-2 starts Dance) January 23rd - Greek Pottery Art due January 27th - Art portion and novel study completed Math - we exploring the Cartesian plane (4 Quadrant Grid) and continuing our look at t-tables, growing patterns and integers. Students are reviewing mental math strategies and how patterns help us to predict future data. Science - students have learned about the reasons for the seasons and looking at formalizing their inquiry questions LA - Students are finishing up their novel studies (art and artist statements due January 27th). Presentations will begin next week (spoken about in class and ALL students were present) Please see attached for guidelines on artist statements, Social - students have learned about class structure of Ancient Greece and will begin to look at how decisions were made.

Math - we are exploring t-tables, growing patterns and integers Science - students are asked to start thinking about what questions they have about space in preparation for our first inquiry project. Students are learning about rotations vs. revolutions and constellations. LA - Students are finishing up their novel studies. They have 3 more period to be completing the art component and artist statement (due January 27th). Students are also working on Schleppe stories to demonstrate their understanding of parts of speech (due Friday Jan. 17th). Social - we have travelled back in time and be exploring what life was like in Ancient Greece! S Phys Ed - we are in the Foyer this week working on group games and fitness OUT OF THIS WORLD Exciting news!
I have registered 6-2 for the Junior Astronaut Program with the Canadian Space Agency! By completing activities and submitting feedback, we will be entered in a contest to have a CANADIAN ASTRONAUT VISIT OUR CLASSROOM! Happy New Year! Math - students are continuing their look at patterns and equations. We will be exploring growing patterns this week Science - we are starting our look at Sky Science this week! Students were given a moon tracker that they will be responsible for tracking the moon each night (see attached) for the next month. We will be starting our first inquiry project shorty, so students should be thinking about what questions they have about space and what they would like to research! (Cannot be something that will already be covered in class). LA - we will be completing our novel study this month (4 questions) due on January 10th (see below for 4 question ideas and support!) Students will have 2 period this week to work on these paragraphs. Students are also working on Schleppe stories to demonstrate their understanding of parts of speech. Social - we have travelled back in time and be exploring what life was like in Ancient Greece! Phys Ed - we are in the main gym this week (We also have Phys Ed on Friday) and will continuing our work in basketball and group games.
